The origins of Halloween

Spooky ghosts and goblins are the least to worry about at this time.

What is Halloween about? The costumes and such? The trick or treating? It goes beyond that.

Truth is that this used to be a Pagan Holiday dedicated to the God and Goddess or Paganism. They were believed to restarted another cycle of life.

Witches and Warlocks would dress up and attempt to please their ancestors and please the spirits that may roam around there. Little children were given presents (present day candy) to please them. Now, we give out candy and maybe other goodies.

It is always a past time. I can recall all the times I have been trick or treating. It has been amazing. There are some who oppose this tradition completely. Some people believe that Halloween and trick or treating is a tradition from Satan and is Hellish. Some do not care.

What can my child be for Halloween?

The possibilities are endless! It is even better when you are a child! They can be so much for Halloween that it is hard to even start! Since costumes and children go so well together, many costumes are designed with your child in mind.

For example, take this Mickey Mouse costume.
This child dressed up as Mickey Mouse is too adorable! Good news is that it is available from Annies Halloween Costumes. You do not have too worry about your child not sticking out.

This Baby Pea costume is available for infants. This is from Annies Halloween Costumes as well. Now, you can even take your little bundle of love and joy around with you. Why should they be left out? It is very warm and cuddly to ensure your little one stays warm.

This girl is dressed up as Hannah Montana. Which girl is not crazy over Hannah Montana? All of them are.
It comes complete with a gold jacket, gold top, black leggings and silver glitter belt to make the whole Hannah Montana experience realistic. Maybe your daughter can live the double life of the star of the show!

Here is another example of what your child can do. There is also a male version of this costume. This is from the the movie "Incredibles!" This makes for a very memorable Halloween costume.

What is Halloween?

"Halloween (also spelled Hallowe'en) is a holiday celebrated on October 31. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saint's Day. It is largely a secular celebration, but some Christians and pagans have expressed strong feelings about its religious overtones. The day is often associated with the colors orange and black, and is strongly associated with symbols such as the jack-o-lantern. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing customers, ghost tours, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o'-lanterns, pranking people, reading scary stories, and watching horror movies."

That is just a brief description of what Halloween is like. There are so many colors, costumes, excitement, creativity, happy children and most of all-CANDY!

It is such an exciting time! You can only dress up and be what you want once a year and that is on October 31st. Halloween!

Regardless of if you are a parent or a child, it can be exciting for the whole family!
